On 18–19 May 2026, the XII National Opole Tax Conference “Customs, Excise and Gambling — Legislation, Practice, Theory” was held at the Palace in Izbicko, near Opole. The conference was organised, amongst others, by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Opole, the Financial Law Association “Aureus”, and the National Revenue Administration.
The event was attended by experts from Jabłoński Koźmiński & Partners, who each appeared as speakers:
- Dr Krzysztof Koźmiński, Associate Professor at the University of Warsaw — Managing Partner of the Firm — spoke in the Opening Panel “Legislation in Tax Law — Are We Heading in the Right Direction?” delivering a paper entitled: “Challenges, Problems and Experience with Regulatory Impact Assessment in the Field of Tax Law in Poland.”Dr Grzegorz Keler — Managing Partner of the Firm — spoke in Panel XIII “Sanctions in Commercial Transactions — Challenges and Risks”, delivering a paper entitled: “The Grey Market in Alcohol Trading in the Context of Regulations and the Application of the Fiscal Penal Code.”Barbara Błaszczak — tax adviser and Senior Associate of the Firm — spoke in Panel VIII “Excise Duty and Alcohol — A Difficult and (Not So) Obvious Relationship”, delivering a paper entitled: “Internalising the Social Costs of Alcohol Consumption — Between Economic Theory and Legislative Practice.”
A record-breaking edition — with nearly 190 participants and 70 papers — brought together representatives of academia, public administration, business, and practitioners specialising in customs law, excise duty, tax law, and gambling regulations, confirming that these annual gatherings are not merely worthwhile, but essential.
We extend our sincere thanks to the organisers for the invitation to participate in the Conference, and in particular to the Head of the Department of Economic and Financial Law at the Institute of Legal Sciences of the University of Opole, Dr Piotr Stanisławiszyn, for creating an exceptional forum for substantive debate and the exchange of knowledge at the highest level.
Further information about the conference is available on the Aureus website.
