Rzeczpospolita: Interview with Prof. Krzysztof Koźmiński on the situation of former Collegium Humanum students

30.06.2026

Does a diploma of questionable market value, combined with failures on the part of a higher education institution, amount to improper performance of a contractual obligation? At the beginning of June this year, two further court rulings were handed down in cases brought by students seeking reimbursement of tuition fees incurred in connection with their studies at the Varsovia University of Business and Applied Sciences, formerly known as Collegium Humanum.

The daily newspaper Rzeczpospolita has published an extensive interview with Professor Krzysztof Koźmiński of the University of Warsaw, attorney-at-law and Managing Partner at Jabłoński Koźmiński & Partners, who acts as legal counsel for former students of the former Collegium Humanum.

As our expert explains:

“The courts pointed out that even if a student had been admitted to the final examination and obtained a diploma from Collegium Humanum, that diploma would not have been of significant value. This is not merely a matter of the student’s subjective perception, but also of the diploma’s objective value. These are the consequences of the so-called Collegium Humanum scandal, which has become firmly embedded in public consciousness.”

Our Firm has represented hundreds of students and conducted negotiations with the university before court proceedings were initiated.

The multidisciplinary team of legal representatives acting on behalf of the students comprises Professor Krzysztof Koźmiński, Dr Michał Jabłoński and Patryk Grochowski, LL.M. of Jabłoński Koźmiński & Partners, as well as Wojciech Kiełbasiński of Jabłoński Koźmiński & Partners and Kancelaria dla Nauki, and Barbara Pietrzyk-Tobiasz of Kancelaria dla Nauki.

We invite you to read the full interview.
