Beware of deepfakes! Are well-known figures encouraging investments or speaking in foreign languages? It could be a trap!
In the article titled “Lewandowski Speaking Russian, and Świątek Encouraging Investments? Beware, It’s a Deepfake!”, published in Rzeczpospolita Law, Advocate Patrycja Rejnowicz-Janowska, Counsel at Jabłoński Koźmiński & Partners and Head of the Media Law & Personal Rights and Employment Law & HR practices, commented on the latest threats posed by deepfakes.
As our expert points out, we should be particularly cautious of recordings that evoke strong emotional reactions in viewers. Advocate Patrycja Rejnowicz-Janowska emphasised that especially suspicious are offers highlighting their uniqueness, urging quick action, suggesting limited availability, or promising fast profits. Common warning signs that may indicate something is amiss with a recording include linguistic errors, incorrect word forms, unusual intonation, or improper use of numbers. Frequently, there is also a lack of synchronisation between lip movements and sound.
