The deregulation blitz is gaining momentum! In just 100 days, the government has reviewed an astonishing 350 proposed legal changes, with 200 already submitted to parliament. But does such a rapid pace of deregulation ensure better legislation? Could it potentially weaken the legal system and lead to unchecked lobbying?
Dr. hab. Krzysztof Koźmiński, prof. UW, Managing Partner at Jabłoński Koźmiński & Partners Law Firm, answers these questions in an article for Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, emphasizing that:
The concept of spontaneous, bottom-up deregulation sounds appealing. However, it presents certain risks. First, it can lead to lobbying and pushing solutions that favor specific groups. Without top-down oversight, it’s easy to eliminate regulations that, when removed, benefit particular beneficiaries but not society as a whole. Wise deregulation should come after thorough social analysis.
