Yesterday, i.e., on October 15, 2024, the Supreme Administrative Court issued a judgment in a groundbreaking case regarding the excessive length of the Republic of Poland President’s proceedings regarding awarding the title of a professor.

The case was successfully conducted by the Managing Partner of our Law Firm, Michał Jabłoński, PhD, with the support of adv. Patrycja Rejnowicz-Janowska, who is a Counsel at Jabłoński Koźmiński & Partners.

The Supreme Administrative Court dismissed the appeal in cassation of the President of the Republic of Poland against the judgment of the Voivodship Administrative Court in Warsaw of September 21, 2022, which obliged the President of the Republic of Poland to consider the request of the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles from 2018 to award the title of professor to Mr. Michał Bilewicz. The President of the Republic of Poland must close the case within one month of the delivery of the final judgment.

This judgment is a crucial step towards better protecting the rights of persons applying for academic titles and an important signal that public administration bodies are obliged to act in accordance with the law and in a timely manner in this matter.

More about the case can be read on Wyborcza.pl in the article titled: “Prof. Bilewicz wygrał z prezydentem w NSA. Andrzej Duda ma miesiąc na rozpatrzenie wniosku o profesurę”.
