Defending civil rights
In recent months, Jabłoński Koźmiński & Partners has had the honour of representing Ms Beata Mrukiewicz in a high-profile case against the authorities of Mszczonów. This case concerns the protection of our client’s personal rights and raises fundamental issues related to transparency and equality in access to public information. Importantly, we are acting pro bono, fully committed to defending the rights of our client.
Growing media interest
It comes as no surprise that this case has attracted significant media attention. Increasing numbers of journalists and news outlets are closely following the actions of the Mszczonów committee and the responses of local authorities, which have sparked considerable controversy. Recently, journalist Marcin Krężelok from the TVP INFO portal published an in-depth article exploring the background of the case, in which our Counsel, Advocate Patrycja Rejnowicz-Janowska of Jabłoński Koźmiński & Partners, provided a detailed commentary on the matter.
The background of the case: what you need to know
The case of Beata Mrukiewicz began in March of this year when our client sought to purchase an advertising page in the local publication “Merkuriusz,” managed by the Municipal Information Centre in Mszczonów. Despite meeting the formal requirements, her request was denied. These actions, which raise serious concerns about transparency and fairness in the operation of municipal institutions, prompted us to take legal action to protect our client’s personal rights.
We believe that the rule of law and equality before the law are fundamental principles that must be upheld at all costs. This is why we have undertaken this case pro bono, with full dedication. Our goal is not only to protect Ms Beata Mrukiewicz’s rights but also to draw attention to critical issues concerning the functioning of local democracy. We encourage you to read the full article published on the TVP INFO portal, where you can find more details about this important case and its potential impact on the future of local democracy in Poland.
